Congratulations go out to my friend Aaron and his wife Karen on the birth of their second son, Noah Caleb xxxxxxx, born on January 1st at 9:09 AM. He weighed 6 pounds 5 ounces and was 20 1/4 inches long.
Two good Old Testaments names:
Noah – derived from the Hebrew name Noach meaning “rest, comfort”. In the Old Testament Noah was the builder of the ark which allowed him, his family, and animals of each species to survive the great Flood. After the Flood he received the sign of the rainbow as a covenant from God.
Caleb – means “dog” in Hebrew. In the Old Testament this is the name of one of the twelve spies sent by Moses into Israel. Of the Israelites who left Egypt with Moses, Caleb and Joshua were the only ones who lived to see the promised land.
In accordance to scripture (Bereishit 17: 9-14, 23-24), Caleb will have his Brit Milah Ceremony next Sunday the 8th of January.
Genesis 17:9-12
Then God said to Abraham, “As for you, you must keep my covenant, you and your descendants after you for the generations to come. This is my covenant with you and your descendants after you, the covenant you are to keep: Every male among you shall be circumcised. You are to undergo circumcision, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and you. For the generations to come every male among you who is eight days old must be circumcised, including those born in your household or bought with money from a foreigner—those who are not your offspring.
