SIMILE

I was goofing around just now looking at possibly upgrading this blog and started looking at the plugins available for WordPress. One of the first things that I came across is the SIMILE – Timeline plugin. Clicking on the link to check out an example of this plugin there was a link to this example of the timelines of Jewish and Christian History. The data is based off the Timeline of Christianity at Wikipedia. This is a “DHTML Ajaxy widget” that just has to be seen.
Boy, where was this when I was teaching Sunday School?!

Get a Tissue – Part2

OK, so the other day my friend “The Unfettered Monk” sent us all (the guys in our newly formed men’s group) an email with a link to a YouTube movie about Dick Hoyt. I blogged about it here. I think we all watched it and commented, to each other via email, how we felt we sucked as fathers in comparison to this guy. This morning he shared with all of us an email that he was sending to another member of our group who I’ll name, “Yakuza”.

Yakuza,

I know I’m a little weird with the spiritual analogies sometimes but not only did I see the love of the father but I also saw the Love of the FATHER in that story.

That’s ME in that wheelchair. Helpless, incapacitated, paralyzed, deformed… and the Father carries me… the Father gives me the opportunity to know the pleasure of running. One day (the sooner the better) I’ll rise from my wheel chair and run with my Father on restored limbs “like the calf let free from the fetters” in His glorious wondrous presence.

So I felt a little guilty when I watched that video thinking about my deficiencies as a father but I also gloried and marveled at the wondrous giving sacrificial love of my Father to the praise of His glorious grace, mercy, kindness and love!!

I look forward to seeing you all on Saturday morning.

Grace and Peace,

The Unfettered Monk

Man I love The Unfettered Monk. I know that in his humble way he’d be embarassed by this but, “The lens by which he views the world is one that I truly aspire to gain.” It is in his “weird” analogies that he causes us to step back and see the world in a much more Christ-like way.

On an aside – Someday I’ll have to convince him write out his wacked out analogy on The Trinity and Man based on the Domino Server/Lotus Notes Client relationship. For the geeks in the audience you’ll get a good chuckle from it.
