And this of course dovetails back to our analogy of the ship.

Are you sure you and I aren't already on the ship?

I keep thinking that I'm traipsing along lost in the bowels of the ship with barely enough light for me to see and comprehend what my surroundings are, let alone the fact that I'm in a ship. Every once in a while I bump into another wandering soul who'll whisper something like, "We need to look for the stairs.", or "Maybe if we cry out someone will hear us?"

I've been pretty lucky lately. I found a whole group that's decided to get together periodically in a larger cargo hold. Of course we all wander off in our different ways looking for the "stairs" or some other means by which we might get to the light, but we still get back together for comfort. Sometimes we'll even appoint someone to go out as far as they can and try to find others who might be stumbling around lost.

I think my ship analogy just failed at that last point, but hey it was fun while it lasted. Almost as good as the Server/Client relationship analogy. Still waiting to see you fully flesh out that one.

I've been thinking about that conversation. I wonder how significant it is to realize that our bride (or groom as it were) has by His own blood initiated the act of union with us in which He can kiss us freely without reserve. In other words we believe that somehow because of our sin that a veil still remains or worse that our lips are actually cankerous blistered gangrenous flthy putrid rotting olfactorily and tactially offensive in every way to our Bride (sorry for the mixed analogies)and yet He with the burning searing purifying coal of His own righteousness has cleaned and healed us completely. All that awaits is the sweet embrace which comes without hesitation and with full arousal. Oh if we only knew the Saviors love and affection for us.

Wasn't trying to point out any errors - in fact I thought I was committing heresy in my feeble attempt to explain my thoughts. I appreciate your ponderings as they cause me to ponder as well. I'm reading through Packer's 'Knowing God' and have had similar stirrings - God's majesty is something I easily dismiss or don't understand at all and I am grieved at the thought. Also, just ordered another book - 'Respectable Sins: Confronting the Sins We Tolerate' - by Bridges. I read the table of contents and it was like getting hit in the stomach with each topic listed because I struggle (or don't) with each one! Oh how I look forward to the "time" after Christ's return...

Tail of the Dragon - how can I resist?! You have to check this out

Thanks for pointing out my errors - wasn't trying to be a heretic by putting Christ back on the cross. :-)
I think I was trying to wrestle with the enormity of my sin from Christs perspective. I may "know" that Christ paid for all of my sins (Past, Present, Future) in that one act that from our perspective happened over two millennium ago. But from the time-line that I live in, the sin that I just now at this very instance committed, was one of the reasons the nails pierced his flesh. The other day I was having a personal revelation of how I need to be more aware of the magnitude and gravity of my daily short comings.
Too often I go about my day resting in Gods mercy without being grateful for the price that was paid. I was attempting to correct a spiritual character flaw. I hope that may shed more light on what I so poorly attempted.

By the way - nice to hear that you're still alive. :-)
Tail of the Dragon some time in the Spring. Let me know what you think your calendar will look like.

Hmm. Interesting, mind expanding exercise. I too struggle with getting my brain around this concept and cannot resist commenting. My first thought - God is. As you point out, everything to God is present tense. He doesn't look back or forward - even to the cross. The only way my feeble mind can relate to this concept is that God "sees" every point in our time continuum AND every detail (sub-atomic level to universal scale). I guess that is a definition of "is" on the God scale. Second point, you don't put Christ back on the cross. When He gave his earthly life as a perfect sacrifice, my grasp of it is that He did it "once for all" (Rom 6:10) until this world passes and His kingdom is established. He took into account all the sin of all the believers that were yet to come - see end of Heb 9 thru first of Heb 10. So the sins we struggle with daily are already covered. Our job is to live up to that reality - to actively take part in our sanctification in this this life - to "work out our salvation with fear and trembling".

It's at the Sheetz gas station in Charlestown, WV. We originally met up with a dozen bikes in Frederick and then drove here to pick up 3 more bikes. We then headed up to Deep Creek Lake. It's becoming a yearly event with the group I'm riding with. I put in 350 miles. The lady in this picture is from Aberdeen, MD she rode 532 miles and didn't get home till midnight.

And yes I just got an iPhone for work and I was playing with a picture uploading application.
